[Castle Gateway Eye Project] The Art of Social Uprising

  • The Arts Barge, Castle Gardens England, YO23 1JH United Kingdom (map)

How can we make a new public space that is BRILLIANT for families? We’re working with four artists this summer to explore the heritage and potential of the Castle Gateway through creative deviation. Jade Blood, Julia Davis Nosko, Mat Lazenby and Rich Corrigan are running family friendly workshops designed to get you thinking about the past, present and future of this fantastically versatile space.

On: 30th July

Be at: The Artsbarge (on the river at Castle Gardens )

Between: 12pm - 4pm

Participants will use material from the archives of English Heritage and York Explore Library as inspiration to navigate themes of  historical social protest in York. Jade will lead this workshop where we will make banners, flags and capes for the next generations uprising - what could this be? This event is part of a series of summer workshops - please check our website for more information about the project, and ways to get involved.

Please note: If you do not wish to be in the film itself, please let a member of the crew know, you are still more than welcome to join us!
